From your initial arborist consultation to the completion of your project, you will always have an ISA Certified Arborist on-site. We strive to provide you with solutions based on the most current science-based research available, employing the most advanced techniques, while always adhering to industry safety standards.
Why Hire an ISA Certified Arborist?
By hiring an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist, you are ensuring that your home’s outdoor living space is in good hands. ISA Certified Arborists have an advanced level of knowledge and training in regards to tree installation, tree health, tree care, and tree removal. Although a standard in many other countries, the United States does not currently require tree companies to employ or contract an ISA Certified Arborist to be involved in completing or supervising tree work. Although it is not required, professional tree workers that really want to broaden their knowledge take it upon themselves to become ISA Certified Arborists. To become an ISA Certified Arborist, tree workers must demonstrate a combined minimum three years of industry experience and Forestry-related accredited education. For example, a 4-year bachelors degree in Forestry is considered equivalent to two years of industry experience. If a candidate demonstrates the appropriate experience requirement, they must provide multiple reference letters and employer verification proofs. Once the complete candidate application has been vetted by the ISA, the applicant has to pass a two hundred plus question certification exam. This exam is written and consistently updated by leading international experts in tree care. The exam tests proficiency in tree biology, soil science, watershed management, tree planting, tree stabilization practices, urban forestry, plant health diagnosis, pruning, hazardous tree assessment, climbing techniques, and safety practices. This rigorous ISA credentialing process ensures that your trees are cared for by the best.
Safety Culture
It’s no secret that tree work is dangerous. Nearly every year, tree work is ranked as the first or second most dangerous job. Something about climbing 100-foot-tall trees attached to a 1/2-inch rope while wielding a high-powered chainsaw really makes for a hazardous work environment. Surprise! But while tree work has built-in risk, the situation is far too often exacerbated by the fact that many companies fail to appropriately train their employees, putting profit over people. At Rooted Arbor Care, safety is our top priority. Fortunately, much of the risk we face can be mitigated or all together eliminated with proper training, implementation of a robust safety protocol, and the appropriate deployment & use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Our team is committed to advancing industry training techniques, safety standards, and working on research and development (R&D) with several of the top arborist equipment manufacturers in the world. Our owners have trained hundreds of fellow tree workers & arborists – in both production environments, and as a training lab instructor & safety presenter at Tree Care Industry EXPO 2022 in Charlotte, NC. Our team members are regular contributors to TCI Magazine and ISA News Magazine, writing on topics such as innovative climbing gear, technical rigging scenarios, and safe working practices. These forums have greatly increased Team Rooted’s exposure to promising new trends in tree science, safety, training, and industry best practices. We are proud to have multiple ISA Certified Arborists, Certified Treecare Safety Professionals (CTSP), and trained aerial rescue climbers on staff to ensure that we follow current ANSI Z133 safety standards. Rest assured, our fully insured and highly trained team of ISA Certified Arborists will take care of your hazardous tree needs safely!
COMMITTED TO INDUSTRY ADVANCEMENT
Rooted Arbor Care is committed to industry advancement! We are members of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and the Midwestern Chapter of the ISA, and are also members of the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA). We have two Certified Treecare Safety Professionals (CTSP) on staff, who are trained to view safety concepts in a different way. The principle role of a CTSP is to develop and maintain a constantly evolving culture of safety that is omnipresent in their companies. One of the owners, Andy, is a member of TCI Magazine’s Editorial Committee, and is a regular contributor to TCI Magazine. His articles have helped raise concerns about industry practices found in the US, and have helped steward a heightened safety approach amongst many TCIA Member companies.
