Rooted Arbor Care was founded by two friends who worked together as climbers. After working for other tree care companies, we were motivated to start our own company rooted in our principal values of faith, family, and foliage. Because we are a small business, we can spend more time learning our customers’ needs so that we can deliver the best possible care for their trees. We want your interactions with us to be clear, concise, and comfortable. We are happy to say that our job is also our hobby – we genuinely love what we do!
Meet the Founders
Andy Jones
Andy Jones is an ISA Certified Arborist and Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP). Andy has previous experience in landscaping, irrigation, and business logistics and is an Air Force veteran. He is married with 3 kids. Andy is a contributing author for both ISA News and Tree Care Industry Magazine. He is a presenter and trainer for TCIA Expo and is passionate about providing education about safe work practices to other tree care professionals. Andy is an exceptional climber who specializes in large tree removals, crane work, hazardous tree removal, advanced rigging techniques, and structural pruning.

Thomas Paine
Thomas Paine has had a love for trees and the woods ever since he was a young boy. Now with over 10 years of experience, he is an ISA Certified Arborist and Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP). He is happily married, has 3 kids, and continues to pursue his education in arboriculture. Thomas is an accomplished in his field, with an unmatched ability as a tree climber. He is an expert at performing hazardous tree removal, advanced rigging techniques, ornamental pruning, and restorative pruning.

Meet the Team
Nick
Nick has been an outstanding addition to the Rooted Arborists training team. Since obtaining his forestry degree, Nick has worked on many of Boston's historic trees, where he has honed his ornamental tree pruning skills and historic tree preservation abilities. Nick now resides In Chicago with his fiancée & two cats were he uses his knowledge of speciality tree care to help enhance Chicago's urban canopy. Although not a full-time member of Rooted Arbor Care, we are grateful to collaborate with him on many of our national safety and training initiatives. Nick has been part of several training and safety projects with Rooted Arbor Care, including Tree Care Industry Expo presentations, research and development with many of the industries most prominent manufacturers, and as a contributor for TCI Magazine.

Matt
Mateusz AKA "Matt" is our favorite Polish import! Matt loves all things outdoors, and is an avid snowboarder and recreational climber. When not at a dog park with his new puppy, Finn, he can be found in St. Albans with his family. Matt's love of competitive tree climbing and his zealous pursuit of all things tree related have been indispensable to the team. Matt has developed a love for large tree pruning. He is an ISA Certified Arborist, and is rapidly working toward being a local authority on St. Louis' mature canopy. As a first generation American, Matt was the first of his family born in the United States, and has been instrumental in helping his family pursue their own piece of the American dream.

Steven
Steven brings a deep love for the outdoors and a strong background in forestry to the Rooted team. A Colorado native, he worked with the Forest Service on fire mitigation and led an outdoor youth ministry. As an ISA Certified Arborist, he’s passionate about Plant Health Care (PHC) and plays a key role in expanding and maintaining Rooted’s PHC program. He also contributes to Rooted’s social media presence by filming and editing videos, helping to share the company’s mission with a wider audience. With a deep love for the outdoors, Steven enjoys backpacking, woodworking, and felling trees for creative projects. Outside of work, he enjoys bread-making, crafting homemade sourdough and bagels.

Jack
Jack joined the tree care industry in 2017 and has embraced every opportunity to grow and develop his skills. With a deep passion for outdoor work, he thrives in the hands-on, creative aspects of arboriculture. Jack believes tree care allows arborists to express their artistry through their craft, whether it's shaping trees, planting new ones, or honing technical skills. Outside of work, Jack enjoys cycling and dreams of completing the 237-mile Katy Trail from Kansas City to St. Louis. He also has a talent for ceramics, which reflects his lifelong artistic inclinations. A self-proclaimed chainsaw enthusiast, Jack loves sharpening saws, collecting vintage chainsaws, and cutting wood. His dedication to continuous learning and his enthusiasm for all things arboriculture make him an invaluable member of Team Rooted.
Tim
Tim has been with Rooted Arbor Care for over a year now, and has been a tremendous asset to the team with his infectious positivity. Tim grew up in South Africa where his parents served as missionaries, returning to the St. Louis region in time for Tim to attend Highschool at Westminster. Tim is a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and puts those skill to great use, working with our training team to develop aerial rescue plans and other emergency response protocols. Tim loves the outdoors and is an avid recreational climber. This love has paved the way to his promising career as a climbing arborist. He just finished his second year of his Arborist Apprenticeship, and will be preparing to sit for his ISA Certification within the next year.
